The Art of Rest: A Journey Through Movement, Stillness & Sound

Give Yourself Permission to Pause
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to truly rest?
Not scrolling your phone.
Not watching television.
Not checking things off your to-do list.
Real rest.
The kind that allows your body to soften, your breathing to deepen, and your mind to become a little quieter.
Join yoga and meditation teacher Krista Oakes and sound therapist Cat Laiacone for The Art of Rest, a deeply restorative experience combining gentle movement, Yoga Nidra, and the soothing sounds and vibrations of crystal singing bowls and chimes.
Whether you're feeling physically tired, mentally overwhelmed, or simply longing for a moment to breathe, this is your invitation to step away from doing and give yourself permission to rest.
No prior yoga, meditation, or sound healing experience is necessary.
Come as you are.
Why Rest Matters
Many of us have been taught that rest is something we earn after everything else is finished.
But there will always be another email to answer, another errand to run, another responsibility waiting for our attention.
Rest isn't a reward.
It's one of the ways we care for ourselves so we have the energy, presence, and resilience to care for everything else that matters.
Giving yourself permission to pause isn't selfish.
It's essential.
The Art of Rest gives you intentional time to set down your responsibilities, step out of "doing" mode, and experience what it feels like to simply receive.
For 90 minutes, there is nowhere else you need to be and nothing else you need to accomplish.
Just breathe. Soften. And rest.
What You'll Experience
A Journey Through Movement, Stillness & Sound
Gentle Movement
We'll begin with gentle, accessible movement designed to release physical tension while calming the mind.
You're welcome to practice on a yoga mat, in a chair, or using a combination of both, making the experience accessible for a wide range of abilities and comfort levels.
There is no pressure to perform, achieve, or keep up.
Simply listen to your body and move in the way that feels right for you.
Therapeutic Sound
Throughout the experience, Cat will surround you with the beautiful sounds and vibrations of crystal singing bowls and chimes.
As you move, breathe, and eventually settle into stillness, the soundscape creates a calming atmosphere that supports relaxation and presence.
Yoga Nidra
The journey culminates in an extended Yoga Nidra practice, often described as "yogic sleep."
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that invites the body into deep rest while the mind remains gently aware.
You'll settle into a comfortable resting position while Krista guides you inward and Cat accompanies the practice with crystal singing bowls and chimes.
Nothing to accomplish.
Nothing to prove.
Nothing to fix.
For these moments, you are simply invited to rest.
You May Need the Art of Rest If...
You feel stressed, overwhelmed, or mentally busy.
You carry tension in your body.
You have difficulty slowing down or relaxing.
You spend much of your time caring for other people.
You're tired of always being in "doing" mode.
You're craving a little space to breathe and reconnect with yourself.
Or maybe nothing is particularly wrong.
Maybe you simply need some rest.
You don't have to be good at resting.
You just have to give yourself permission to begin.
What Participants Are Saying
“OMG I HIGHLY recommend the Art of Rest, it was spectacular! It wasn’t just the sound bath, which was AMAZING in and of itself, but paired with Krista’s expertly guided, very detailed (down to each finger and toe) yoga nidra meditation, the length of it (not ending just as you’re relaxing into it) and her reassuring dialog and soothing voice making you feel relaxed and secure, it was an over the top winning combo!
My body was vibrating for hours and I was still floating the next day! The calm and feeling like nothing could rattle me lasted for days.”
— Cheri Roman
“I really enjoyed the Art of Rest experience. Thank you for holding space for it. The singing bowls were a beautiful addition to the practice and yoga nidra.”
— Renee Langdon

Do I have to get down on the floor?

Bring a yoga mat if you plan to practice on the floor, along with anything that will help you feel comfortable during Yoga Nidra—a blanket, pillow, bolster, or other supports you enjoy.

You'll join the experience live from home.
