The Power of Intention – Living with Purpose

Have you ever considered what it would mean to go through your entire day with full intention? In our busy lives, it's easy to move from one task to the next on autopilot, but what if a simple pause could change everything?

At the beginning of my yoga classes, we take a few moments to set an intention for the practice. This is about getting clear on what you need in that moment so you can be focused. But what if we applied this powerful practice to everything we do?

We do the practices on the mat so they're beneficial for us off the mat. Intention is a bridge between the physical practice and mindful living.

Imagine you're preparing dinner for your family or getting ready for a really important or difficult discussion. Before you begin that activity, take a moment to pause and set an intention.

  • Cooking: When you're cooking, make it with love. Set an intention to nourish your family and give them love through the food you're preparing.

  • Conversations: Before that difficult conversation, set an intention for the outcome you want to have at the end. This clarity can completely change the tone and direction of the event.

Taking that moment to pause before you begin anything to be clear on your intention can completely change the activity or the outcome. This week, I'd like you to practice being intentional before anything you do. Before the beginning of anything, take one breath and ask yourself, "How can I be intentional with this thing I'm about to do?"

Look at it as a simple experiment and notice what happens. This practice is a form of self-love and self-acceptance, aligning your actions with your truth and cultivating courage and vulnerability. It's not magic, it's commitment.

I'd love to hear what that intention meant for you and how making that small shift might have changed things.
