Too Many Tabs Open? Try One Thing at a Time

Have you ever looked at your computer and realized you have more tabs open than you thought?

That happened to me recently while I was setting up for an online yoga class. I usually have my Zoom screen open, but for some reason I hit a button and suddenly every tab that was open on my computer showed up on the screen.

And I was mortified.

There they were: all the tabs, all the reminders, all the things I had been moving between. But it also made me laugh, because it was such a clear picture of what my mind can feel like sometimes.

Busy. Full. Jumping from one thing to the next.

Just like a computer with too many tabs open.

The Power in the Pause: How Stillness Can ...

Have you ever noticed how rushing from one thing to the next leaves you feeling scattered and tired? Sometimes, the best tool for finding your center isn’t doing more—it’s simply pausing. There is a quiet, gentle power in the pause. It’s a chance to catch your breath, check in with yourself, and invite calm into the mess of the day.

What does Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti mean?

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti is something we chant together at the end of every one of my classes. But what does Om Shanti mean? In this short video I created for my Mindful Monday series I offer my explanation for this chant.

You’re Lying Down. But Are You Actually Resting?
October 26, 2026

Lying down doesn’t necessarily mean we’re relaxing.

Sometimes I look around the room during Savasana and see someone lying perfectly still, but their body is still working.

Their arms are held close against their sides. Their legs are pressed together. Their shoulders are slightly lifted. Maybe their hands are still holding tension.

They’ve stopped moving, but they haven’t necessarily stopped holding.

Are you giving your body room to relax?

You Don’t Have to Wait for Yoga Class to Rest
October 19, 2026

Have you ever gone to a yoga class and thought, I’m really here for Savasana?

I get it.

There’s something wonderful about getting to the end of class, lying down, closing your eyes, and knowing that for the next few minutes, there is absolutely nothing you need to do.

But here’s the question I want you to think about:

Why do we wait for yoga class to give ourselves permission to rest?

Sitting Too Long? Make Standing Up Part of Your Gentle Yoga Practice
October 12, 2026

We often think of sit-to-stands as a way to build strength. But have you ever noticed what happens when you reach the top? Standing tall can also be a stretch—and an ordinary moment of getting out of your chair can become an opportunity to move.

What Gratitude Really Offers Us: Recognizing the Abundance Already Here
September 28, 2026

If you've taken a class with me, you've probably heard me say that gratitude is the pathway to joy and abundance. At the end of every class, we spend a few moments acknowledging what we're grateful for.

Recently, while talking with a client, I heard myself say it a little differently. And it made me stop and think: Have I been talking about abundance as though it's something we're trying to get?

When I say, “Let's bring in joy and abundance,” does that sound as though abundance is something we earn? As though, if we practice gratitude well enough, we'll receive more of what we want?

That gave me pause. Because that's not what I mean, and I want to spend a little time with that distinction today.

Letting Go of Resentment: Put Down the Weight and Live Lighter
September 21, 2026

I invited an old friend to a party after she moved to town. I was happy to welcome her, introduce her to my friends, and help her feel included. She thanked me and said she'd reach out now that she was back.

But I haven't heard from her since.

I've found myself wondering what happened. Did something happen at the party? Why hasn't she reached out? I felt hurt, and honestly, a little angry that the effort hadn't been reciprocated.

The Chest Opener That Brought Me to Tears
September 14, 2026

Think about how much of your day brings your body forward.

We sit at computers, look down at phones, drive, read, cook, garden, and reach toward the people and things that need our attention. Little by little, the shoulders can begin to round and the chest can feel closed.

And sometimes we close inward for reasons that have nothing to do with a screen or a steering wheel. Stress, sadness, uncertainty, and loss can leave us feeling protective of the heart space.

That is one reason chest opening postures can feel so valuable. They give us an opportunity to move in the opposite direction, physically and emotionally.

How to Use an Anchor in Meditation
September 7, 2026

This is Part 3 of Meditation Made Simple, a three part Mindful Monday series designed to help you move from “I can’t meditate” to “I can meditate.”

We have already explored two important truths: showing up for yourself means you are meditating, and having thoughts is a natural part of practice.

So what do you do when thoughts appear?

You return to an anchor.

Meditation Is Not About Emptying Your Mind
August 31, 2026

This is Part 2 of Meditation Made Simple, a three part Mindful Monday series about common questions that can make meditation feel harder than it needs to be.

One of the biggest reasons people say, “I can’t meditate,” is that their thoughts do not stop.

Here is what I want you to know: meditation is not about having no thoughts.

A busy mind is not a mistake. It is part of the meditation process.

How to Know If You Are Meditating Correctly

Maybe your mind felt busy. Maybe sitting still felt harder than you expected. Maybe you finished feeling unsure whether the time even counted.
