Meditation is Easier Than You Think (The Power of One Breath

Do you feel like you don’t have time to meditate? Or maybe you’ve tried it and felt like you weren't "doing it right"?

For today’s Mindful Monday, I want to demystify meditation. So many students tell me they can't meditate because they envision needing 20 minutes of absolute silence, a special candle, and a perfect (and often uncomfortable!) lotus position. No wonder it feels difficult!

I’m here to tell you that meditation doesn't have to look a certain way. In fact, it can start with a single, conscious breath.

The One-Breath Reset

Think about that deep, spontaneous sigh you take when you finally sit down after a long day. That is meditation. Meditation is simply a moment of presence. When you focus on just one inhale and one exhale, you instantly signal your nervous system to relax. It brings you back to center and reminds you that you are here, in the present moment. Anyone and everyone can meditate—including you. I promise.

Your Practice This Week

Don't wait for the "perfect" 20 minutes to show up on your calendar. Instead, use the One-Breath Reset throughout your day:

  1. The Pause: Whenever you feel rushed or overwhelmed, simply stop what you are doing.

  2. The Inhale: Take a deep, slow breath in through your nose.

  3. The Sigh: Let out a long, audible sigh through your mouth.

  4. The Observation: Notice the value of that single moment of peace.

If you know someone who could use a moment of calm today, please share this post with them. Inhale... and exhale.
