Have you ever truly thought about what it means to gossip and how that really impacts yourself and others?
In my weekly online class, the Authentic Living Circle, we've started a new series based on the book The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. His first agreement is to be impeccable with your word.
To be impeccable with your word means to be kind with your words, not only to others but also to yourself.
Ruiz talks a lot about how, as a society and a culture, we tend to gossip and speak negatively about other people. When we speak about somebody else, we are, in essence, projecting our own opinions and judgments, often perpetuating an untruth.
The effect of this is profound. The people we gossip to then operate from that place of what we've said, assuming it's true. We all start to buy into a collective, damaging agreement about the person we are talking about. Gossip poisons the environment for everyone involved.
This week, I want you to consider and notice when you gossip. Notice the moment you start to speak about someone else, and see if you can make a different, more conscious choice.
Choose to be impeccable with your words by only speaking from kindness, from positivity, and from love.
Try it this week! If you found this message inspirational, or if you think it could benefit someone else in your life, please share this post. Give somebody else a chance to be inspired and to notice how gossip might be impacting them this week.
Have a beautiful day. Namaste.
